Naran a NO GO Area?

Published by admin at 1:04 am under Trout Fishing

Gentlemen,
I was planning a fishing trip to Dudipatsar Lake over this weekend heading out from Rawalpindi. Last night it was brought to my attention from reliable sources that there is a military operation in progress against insurgents in the vicinity of Naran area. Can anyone confirm or deny this information?

My other choice is to head out towards Neelum Valley. Can anyone tell me of any good trout fishing spots in Neelum Valley.

Regards,
Bilal

Is there still good fishing in Naran I went there 5 years ago and caught inly 2 fish in one week.

But I was only fishing in the main river and not in any of the lakes.

A fellow member said that he had caught trout near the PTDC motel in naran (3 KMs after PTDC).I have visited that area but didn’t find anything over that particulat spot.Although the spot looks quite promising as the kunhar river becames wide and calm.
As per my recent experiance,Now u need to travel uptill Besal and try ur luck in the dodipatsar nallah or better go to dodipatsar lake,b’coz according to locals this lake is the birth place of all the wild trout (brown trout) in kaghan valley. One thing i learned from locals that while fishing in any nallah is, they dont pick a spot and start fishing, instead they walk alongside the nallah and cast/retrieve,covering much large area, and one amazging thing is they never cast far deep in the nallah, mostly just at 4-5 foot length.
